The excitement of the U.S. Open is in the air. The 2017 U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship will be the 72nd U.S. Women’s Open, scheduled for July 13-16 at Trump National Golf Club in Bedminster, New Jersey. It is the oldest of the five current major championships and the third of the 2017 season. It has the largest purse in women’s golf, increased to about $5 million in 2017. The Championship is open to any female professional with a USGA handicap index not exceeding 2.4. Players qualify by competing in one of the twenty 36 hole-qualifying tournaments held at sites across the United States and at international sites in China, England, Japan, and South Korea. Additional players were exempt from qualifying because of past performances in professional tournaments all around the world. It goes without saying that Lexi Thompson runs as an overwhelming favorite in this event. Nevertheless, there is a host of other golfers as well who are ready to prove that they stand toe-to-toe with the world leader. Let’s look at the chances of some of the top players to win the U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championship.

Lexi Thompson(+1000), Stacy Lewis(+1800) and Brooke Henderson(+2200) comprise one of the featured groupings for the first two rounds of the 72nd U.S. Women’s Open Golf Championships this week in New Jersey. Round 1 which is on July 13 and Round 2 which is set for Friday, July 14 unfold on the 6,732 yard, par-72 old course at Trump National Gold Club in Bedminster, N.J.
