The 2016 Masters: Day, McIlroy in Scoring Position

Finally, the highly-anticipated Masters Tournament is here! The spotlight shifts to Augusta National Club, Georgia, where some of the big names in the game will have their eyes set on $1.8 million. While the best tournament of the year beckons all the golfing enthusiasts to soak into the ultimate experience it provides, defending champion Jordan Spieth will surely relish his happy hunting ground.

The 2016 Masters Betting Preview

Clinging on to the top spot in the World Golf Ranking, the defending PGA champion stands a chance to reclaim his second major on the trot if he can replicate the consistency which he is known for. Oozing a scintillating form, Day is coming on the heels of successive wins at the Arnold Palmer Invitational and World Golf Championships-Dell Match Play. While listed at +650 to win the Masters, expect Day to bring his golfing prowess to Augusta National Golf Club.

Rory McIlroy’s form is going downhill on the 2016 PGA Tour. Besides only two top-10 finishes this year, Rors finished fourth in the WGC-Dell Match Play. Taking the third spot in the World Golf Ranking, lack of accuracy off the tee has proved to be Wee-Mac’s Achilles’ heel. Pegged at +800 to take the Masters in his strides, McIlroy has a tough task ahead of him.

Out to defend the Masters title, Spieth seems to have lost his touch which propelled him in the 2015-16 season. Coming in as close second behind Day in the World Golf Ranking, Spieth has only a single tournament and three top-10 finishes to his credit this year. Listed at +850 to claw the Masters back, Spieth must put his early-season struggles behind him to win Augusta again.

Besides these top golfers, co-listed at +1200, Adam Scott and Bubba Watson will come out swinging their golf clubs and take a shot at $1.8 million in prize money.
