Powerline NHL Rankings: Predators Prowl for Top Spot

Week 14 Powerline NHL Rankings

NHL fans couldn’t have asked for a better start to 2015! In the first two weeks of the New Year, we’ve seen some remarkable achievements and some startling game results.

When the NHL season started, Nashville wasn’t considered much of a threat. But, in 14 weeks of the NHL regular season, the Predators have made it clear that they’re here to stay! In their last six games, they’ve hit four straight wins, unseating the Chicago Blackhawks and Ducks from the top spot in our power rankings.

So, how far did the Blackhawks and the Ducks drop? Are there any other surprise entries to our top five?

While you begin to muse, here’re the top 5 teams based on our Powerline NHL Rankings:

1. Nashville Predators (28-9-4)

In our last Powerline NHL Rankings, the Nashville Predators were on the move. This time, it was pretty hard for us to deny them the top spot. With 6-0-2 wins in their last eight games, Nashville’s only two losses have come against the Ducks and the Blackhawks. Moreover, bear in mind that both those games went to the shoot-out.

So far, it seems that it’s not just about making it to the playoffs for Nashville, it’s about drinking from the Lord Stanley Cup. With a tough road ahead, Predators will expect to keep up their current run of form. Currently, the Predators are pegged at 20/1 at Linesmaker to win the Stanley Cup 2015.

Linesmaker Power Line Rating: 97

2. Chicago Blackhawks (28-13-2)

It seems that Chicago has got bored of the tourney already! The Blackhawks have won three and lost three games so far in 2015. Though they’re amongst the best teams in NHL and these little peaks and dips don’t really matter, they wouldn’t wish to make a habit out of it. Currently, Chicago sits atop the Stanley Cup betting odds at 4/1 at Linesmaker.

Linesmaker Power Line Rating: 93

3. Anaheim Ducks (27-10-6)

After losing against the Rangers last week, the Ducks rebounded with a 4-5 win against the Jets. On Teemu Selanne night, they played a game very similar to what they’ve played all year long. Sitting at an amazing 21-0-6 in one-goal games, a tough schedule awaits them for the next couple of weeks. The Ducks currently trail only Chicago with odds of 7/1 to claim their second Stanley Cup in NHL futures betting at Linesmaker.

Linesmaker Power Line Rating: 84

4. St. Louis Blues (26-13-3)

It’s raining goals for the Blues this January. In their last four games, the Blues have outscored their opponents by 24-8 in regulation time. Goaltending may have been their biggest challenge in the competition so far. But, that won’t be a problem if they keep scoring this heavily. The St. Louis Blues are at 30/1 on the updated Stanley Cup futures to claim the title.

Linesmaker Power Line Rating: 82

5. Pittsburgh Penguins (25-10-6)

Pressure brings the best out of a team! Such has been the case for the Penguins this January. With two great wins, the Penguins are starting to get healthy on their defense. With David Perron, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin in the team, NHL bettors expect them to cruise to the playoffs. Currently the Penguins are listed at 10/1 to lift the 2015 Stanley Cup.

Linesmaker Power Line Rating: 80
